The Futureheads – Rant

Yeah, so this is definitely my album of the year so far:

The Futureheads - Rant

If you’ve not heard it, it’s a full a capella album and features reworkings of various Futureheads tracks, as well as covers by acts as varied as Richard Thompson, Kelis and Sparks. The highlight of the album for me is their version of the traditional folk song “The Old Dun Cow”:

Having been raised on a healthy dose of folk music (thanks Mum!), it’s really refreshing to hear a contemporary act like The Futureheads do justice to a traditional standard in such an inventive way. Good effort, lads.

Get it bought:

Elaine Palmer album launch.

After three brilliant sold out gigs at The Olde Young Tea House in Middlesbrough, I’m pleased to announce that the next one will be on Sunday 1st April and is the album launch gig for Elaine Palmer and her new record ‘Fire and Flames.’

Support comes from Collectors Club frontman Joe Smithson, whose solo stuff is a bit of alright:

Tickets on sale now either in real life from the tea house or online from We Got Tickets:
