Tea will rock you.

Sometimes I put on lovely little gigs at a tea shop in Middlesbrough.

Here’s a great video by Jodie Canwell of the Evelyn Burke gig from last February:

Tea will rock you.

Just put another couple of tea shop gigs on sale. You should probably buy a ticket or two…

Cattle & Cane (acoustic) + Sara Dennis
Sunday 6th May 2012
The Olde Young Tea House in Middlesbrough
7:30pm – £5 from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/165076 or the tea shop

Join Joe, Helen and Frank Hammill of Cattle & Cane for a completely unplugged gig in the intimate setting of Middlesbrough’s The Olde Young Tea House.

Their music is indelibly marked by a sepia-tinted, timeless quality – that could just as easily have emerged from pre-war America as post-millenium Teesside.

Grizzled stalwarts of the North East England musical fraternity are already declaring them the best young band they’ve seen for many a moon, with a breathtaking ability to shift the hardest of hearts with their perfect, soaring harmonies.

Support comes from singer/songwriter Sara Dennis, whose debut album Driftwood is out soon.

No alcohol. Just tea and cakes.

* Please note that this is a standing event with very limited seating available *

William K.J. Anderson (DARTZ/Algiers) + Bob Fischer
Sunday 3rd June 2012
The Olde Young Tea House in Middlesbrough
7:30pm – £5 from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/165077 or the tea shop

Born and raised in East Cleveland but now living in Sheffield, William K.J. Anderson is best known for previously being one third of DARTZ! and currently being one half of Algiers.

Armed simply with his acoustic guitar, William’s solo output is a far cry from that of his bands, with comparisons to artists as varied as Geoff Farina, Nick Drake, Iron & Wine, Skip James and Ben Gibbard regularly being thrown around.

Having shared stages with the likes of Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Beth Jeans Houghton and Hyde & Beast last year, William will be performing his first solo gig of 2012 in the intimate surroundings of Middlesbrough’s The Olde Young Tea House.

Support comes from the wonderful Bob Fischer Trio…

No alcohol. Just tea and cakes.

Elaine Palmer album launch.

After three brilliant sold out gigs at The Olde Young Tea House in Middlesbrough, I’m pleased to announce that the next one will be on Sunday 1st April and is the album launch gig for Elaine Palmer and her new record ‘Fire and Flames.’

Support comes from Collectors Club frontman Joe Smithson, whose solo stuff is a bit of alright:
