I had the pleasure of going to see Sufjan Stevens at The Sage in Gateshead the other night. It was undoubtedly one of the best gigs I’ve been to for a long time and probably up there with the best I’ve ever been to.
Utterly bonkers yet breathtakingly brilliant, Sufjan managed to effortlessly blend his incredible music with an almost theatrical stage show. Tracks off his most recent album ‘Age Of Adz’ sounded so much better live than they do on record, with the double drumming and extremely talented backing band bringing out the best in Sufjan’s audacious space-pop epics.
If you ever get the chance to go see him live – do it.
