Liverpool Sound City

I’m heading to Liverpool Sound City shortly – if you’re going to be there, be sure to let me know!

I’m speaking on the panel at this event tomorrow in association with the Musicians Union:

I spoke on a similar panel in Newcastle a few weeks ago and the feedback we got from the attendees was great – so if you’re in a band or work as a promoter, I’d definitely recommend popping along…

Tellison & The Bots

Cheers to everybody who came to see Tellison and The Bots (and Sailors & Saints) last night at The Westgarth Social Club in Middlesbrough – was a great night (even if I do say so myself!)

I reckon we’ll be hearing a lot more from The Bots in the future. Very exciting young band. I think they enjoyed learning to play Snooker in a social club in Boro, too:

Cattle & Cane

Cattle & Cane were absolutely spellbinding last night. One of the best sets I’ve seen and heard in a long time. Playing totally unplugged and fully acoustic really let the quality of their songs shine through – especially Joe, Helen & Fran’s harmonies. Brilliant stuff.

They’re working on their debut album and I for one can’t wait to hear it! Some of the new stuff had hints of bands like The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Crosby, Stills & Nash in there – as well as their obvious folk influences – classic songwriting!

If you missed the sold out tea house gig, here’s a full video of the gig from that there Youtube:

The Dauntless Elite

Legendary Leeds punk-rockers The Dauntless Elite are a late addition to the bill for this Thursday’s gig at The Westgarth Social Club in Middlesbrough. If you’ve not heard them before and you’re a fan of bands such as Snuff, Leatherface or Dillinger Four, get yourself there!

Juke’s Mannequin

Just noticed that Boro striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has got the artwork for Everything In Transit by Jack’s Mannequin as his twitter background:

Quite an unexpected choice, but enough of a reason for me to post this up:

Definitely one of the most underrated albums of the past few years…

Collectors Club

The band I manage have just released their debut single. It’s an indie pop Summer smash in waiting! Their video has already had over 5,000 hits in less than 48 hours – crackers…

Check out their label’s site for more info: http://www.thisisanadventure.co.uk

Fair Play

I’m heading up to Newcastle on Tuesday to be on a panel for Generator at the launch of the Musician’s Union’s new “Fair Play” guide. Full info can be found here:

Other speakers are Ross from The Futureheads, Emma from ITB, Jay Taylor from Manchester’s Ruby Lounge and Daryl Robinson from Eastside Events.

Should be a goodun’! If you’re in a band, make sure you get yourself there.
